Woodland Fairies a la Rebecca Lily

I found a wonderous photographer via my favorite online image gallery.  Her name is Rebecca Lily.  She is incredible.  I love her style so much.

Many of her photos of children are in a wooded area.  It reminded me so much of Red Curlz 1st birthday party.  It was a Woodland Fairies Party and very cute.  As are these magnificent captures....

I just adore the above photo.  So dream like.

And now I must share some pictures of the 1st birthday party...take a walk down memory lane with me...

Baby girl will be THREE in August.  Time really does fly...**sniff sniff **

International Faces

Faces to love.  I love learning about different cultures.  Here are some of the many wonderful Faces of our International brothers and sisters.  They are all equally beautiful.  In my opinion.

I believe it is true what they say.  The eyes are the window to the soul.

Bi-Racial versus Multi-Racial versus Multi-Cultural

I think I use the term bi-racial too much.

Karyn Parson's and her two multi-racial children

In reality, Red Curlz is not just bi-racial.  I, her mommy, am considered Caucasian.  Her daddy is considered African-American.  That is where the term "bi-racial" comes from.  But, those "categories" exist because our government trys to categorize us and put us in this "box" that we really don't fit in.  Right?

Fact is, both of our families are dervived from many different races and cultures.

My dad's parents were both Czechoslovakian.

My mom's parents were, German, French, Dutch, Scottish...the list continues...or what is also known as Heinz 57, as my mom would say.

The other side of Red Curlz family is not well-known.  African-American, check.

We can trace the family roots back to North Carolina where they lived on a slave plantation.

Why do we have to continue to "check boxes" in order to "define" who and what we are?  Those boxes don't "fit me."  They probably don't "fit" you either.

Has our country, or the World, for that matter, not made enough progress to overcome racial divides?

God made each of us.  Each of us special in our own right.  As a HUMAN RACE.

He did not specify a race.  Not as we know it today.  According to our government.  God made the HUMAN RACE.  He made us all different.  But, he made us all the same.

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red and Yellow.
Black and White.
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

For the most part, we all have eyes.  Nose.  Mouth.  And ears.

More importantly, we all bleed red.  We all having beating hearts.  We all have feelings.  That get hurt.

And they get hurt many times due to this "race card" that is bringing me to write this post.

I was blessed to grow up in a very diverse community.  San Antonio, Texas.

I take pride in having a circle of friends so diverse.  We look around many times and laugh...and say, "Hey!  We are the World!"  I represent the Caucasian/European, then we also have African-Americans, Vietnamese, Mexican, Chinese, Puerto Rican, Cuban, and the list continues...

What a beautiful thing?!?!?

I bet it would be safe to say we ALL are multi-cultural and multi-racial.  Not just White.  Or Black.  Or Bi-Racial.

Why can't we oppose "checking boxes" and stand up and promote THE HUMAN RACE????

What are your thoughts? I would love to hear them!

Deva Curl Results

Just so you guys know...I think I have an issue with my comments, and I am working on getting it fixed!  And my little Christian friend is having the same issue, I think, because I tried to leave a comment and it wouldn't let me!  Just hate dislike that!  If I figure out the coding, I will send it your way so you can fix your layout too!

So, as promised...here are some shots of my Deva Curl Gurl!!!!

Sorry for the naked-ness, but we just jumped out of the bath!

Red Curlz being silly and posing for the camera!

Being even more silly.  If that is even possible!

There we go.

So, of course, this is with wet culrz!  Wet curlz always do better than dry curlz.  In my opinion.  Can you say, FRIZZ?!?  But, what I love so much about Deva Curl is that the "No-Poo" Shampoo is so hydrating and does not strip the hair like most other shampoos.  It makes her hair much more managable.

And here is a shot of Red Curlz on the way out the door this morning.  Dry curlz.  Her hair is not down, but is still looked pretty good before I put it up.   Especially since I haven't made the switch over to satin pillowcases yet.  I heard that helps with the frizziness too.

Again, it is better for us because I am not pulling her hair as much when I am doing it.  Which means less, "Ouchie, mommy!"  "AGH!  My hair!!"  "Stop, mommy!  You hurtin' me!"  You know, all that.

I am a Deva Curl fan.

What's Up Deva Curl

Sorry I am late on getting back to you...but, my real life kicked in and reared its ugly head!

But, I am back now though and thrilled beyond thrilled to tell you that Deva Curl products ROCK!!!

And I had to use the above picture because it reminded me of Red Curlz, duh!

To learn more about Deva Curl products, click here!

I have a sneaking suspicion that if we keep using these Deva products on Red Curlz, she will no doubt perhaps have red curls like the lady above!

The No-Poo was the most astonishing product for me.  And until you try it, you just won't understand!

Deva Curl

Red Curlz received a bag full of Deva Curl products today and I cannot wait to get home and wash her hair!!!  I know that sounds bizarre....but, for two years now, I have been testing products to see what works, what doesn't work on this little girls head of hair...

Let me tell you.  A LOT does NOT work!!!  Like, a lot, A LOT!

This is suppose to be the Cream of the Crop!  And I will be sure to report the good, the bad and the ugly.  And I hope there is not a drop of the latter on top of my little girls head!

Tune in tomorrow...

Has anyone used Deva Curl?  Do you like it?  Share the word...

The Red Curlz

So here is my first Black. White. And Red Curlz All Over. blog and I am oh-so excited!

I created this blog with my little red head in mind, but specifically, to cater to my desires to learn as much as I can from other cultures and share my experiences with raising a biracial child with red hair.

I love finding the most fun and unique baby, toddler and children's clothing, gear and everything else you can think of! Maybe even some things to make our jobs of moms and dads a tad bit easier...

I am a caucasian woman, who does not have red hair, I am married to an African American man, who does not have red hair, and we were blessed with a little girl who was delievered into our arms with very pale light colored skin, and you guessed it - bright red curly hair!
She is a perfect heaven sent blessing...with a little (A LOT*) of sass! *You can see her face!
This is just a part of our story.

Welcome! Please feel free to share your story!
